Kites at Forest Schools
Kites have now been regular visitors to Forest Schools, which has showed in their improved confidence, resilience and communication between themselves and the adults in the group. These sessions allowed the children to develop and extend their skills. They built their own 'Hover Ropes' learnt how to build, light and maintain a small fire and used a range of tools to create some amazing Festive Treasures - the children were really proud of themselves!
As the weeks went on, the children realised that everything we were doing was based on previous experiences, knowledge and understanding. Not everything went right or happened straight away. They developed patience and resilience - the children were so proud when they completed tasks and achieved their goals! This was fantastic to see and be a part of.
The children also got creative- we have had our own 'Decoration Station' in the woods. The children created some beautiful Christmas wreaths, which were made from weaving willow from the Weeping Willow tree by the pond. We added holly and ribbons to add colour. Our 'Rodney Reindeers' were also a massive success! The children had to use a range of tools to saw the wood, clip the antlers and attach them all together using a mallet. All of the festive creations were sold at our 'Winter Wonderland.'
The feedback from parents was fantastic and we raised an amazing amount of money, which will go towards buying some new Forest Schools kit.
