Junior Centre - Robins
All About Robins
Robins is our Key Stage 2 Specialist Centre class. We work in small groups, using a range of specialist teaching strategies to support the children in Robins.
Our learning is pupil focused and based on the children's likes and interests, whilst supporting their needs. The children within Robins are also supported by our Speech and Language Therapists and Therapy Assistants. This is done in a range of ways, including individual Speech and Language Therapy sessions, small group Speech and Language sessions, as well as in class support.
The children attend Robins in the morning and integrate into their mainstream classes in the afternoon.
Our Topics
In Robins, all of our planning is child led. This means all topics are based on the children's interests. This is the starting point for all topics and learning. Our topics have included things like 'Biographies', and 'Crazy Characters', as well as work around a focus text like 'Silly Billy' and 'George's Marvellous Medicine'. All topics in Robins have a strong focus on language, building in rich opportunities for language development and conversation. This, in turn, helps to promote confidence whilst creating opportunities to support Speech and Language therapy targets.
