Modern Foreign Languages

Celebrating languages at Stepgates has been an exciting journey.  Over the last year, we have had a whole school French Day, performed French rhymes and songs for assembly, started a French craft after-school club and learned about the French Revolution for Bastille Day, with our very own cardboard guillotine!

Most recently we celebrated European Languages Day on 26th September 2016, where every class had the opportunity to listen to a story in another language and many classes made European flags and researched facts on European countries. This was also an opportunity for us to celebrate the many languages spoken amongst our pupils at Stepgates.

At Stepgates Years 4, 5, & 6 receive 1 hour of French tuition per week and Year 3 have 35 minutes. All the children are keen to share their new language skills and the words ‘Bonjour Madame!'  are becoming more frequent in the Stepgates corridors.
